This complex of buildings comprises cultural venues such as galleries and theatres, with a community centre. The building opened in 1961, as a Young Mens and Young Women's Hebrew Association, containing a recreation centre and offices. In 1977, the centre underwent a major expansion, which added the Koffler Centre of the Arts and the Leah Posluns Theatre. Plans are currently underway to expand both this site and the Lipa Green Building next door to it, and to link the two buildings through internal passageways.
The YMHA building was a finalist in the Massey Medals for Architecture in 1961.
