George Scott was born in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, in 1795. He settled in Upper Canada in 1829 and built this fieldstone house in 1841. The Scotts lived there until 1943. Currently the premises of Bâton Rouge Steakhouse, today the heritage home is nestled snugly in the southwest nook of the Highway 401 and McCowan Road crossing.
