Originally located at 350 Jarvis Street, Havergal Ladies College (as it was known at the time) was founded in 1894. A new school was built on site in 1898, designed by architect George Martel Miller. The original 1898 school building is still standing, and is now home to the National Ballet School of Canada. In the early 1900s, farmland north of the city was purchased to house a new campus, where the school is located today. Built in the collegiate gothic style, the new school building was completed in 1926, and designed by architects Chapman & Oxley. Two additions were built in 1959 and 1977 respectively. In 1999, an addition designed by architects Moriyama and Teshima was completed. Finally, a new athletic centre was completed in 2006. An addition by Diamond Schmitt Architects is currently under construction.
