This impressive concrete Romanesque synagogue is Holy Blossom Temple's third and current home.

Canada West's first Jewish congregation was formed in 1858 when the Toronto Hebrew Congregation merged with a group of English and Western European Jewish emigrants to create Holy Blossom Temple. The new community began holding services at a location on the southeast corner of Richmond and Yonge streets.

Holy Blossom Temple completed its first purpose-built synagogue in 1876 at 25 Richmon Street. They subsequently moved to a Judeo-Byzantine Romanesque building at 115 Bond Street in 1897 (now St. George's Greek Orthodox Church).

In 1937, the community finally settled at a new synagogue at 1950 Bathurst. At the time of construction, the third Holy Blossom Temple was the tallest structure made of poured concrete in Canada.
