Constructed for Ida Lynd, the second woman to practise medicine in Canada, this large corner residence stands out among the surrounding homes on the two streets it occupies, Dovercourt Road and Mackenzie Crescent. By comparison, it appears both extravagant and stylistically unique with its blend of Queen Anne Revival and Classical features.
In 2014, restaurateur and entrepreneur Tanya Grossi bought the house and turned it into The Darling Mansion, a high-end bed and breakfast, film location, private venue, and artists' residence. It has since been a set for films and television series. The actor Geoffrey Rush hosted a private dinner party in the masion during 2015's Toronto International Film Festival.
