This building formerly housed Hamilton Gear and Machine Company. Between 1911 and 1994, the plant manufactured a wide range of industrial mechanics including actuators for the St. Lawrence Seaway locks and the SkyDome's adjustable roof. 

After plans for Bellwoods Brewery to take over the building in the 2010s fell through, it has been confirmed that Second Sky Circus Arts will make the premises their home in late 2021.
