The three Art Deco apartment buildings which together form the “Mayfair Mansions” were built in 1931 by apartment- specialist architect Herbert Charles Roberts.
Roberts had come to Canada from Cornwall, England and designed over 200 buildings in Toronto, many of which were apartment buildings sprinkled across central mid-town and Dundas West. The restrained Art Deco Mayfair Mansions would become his most celebrated work.
