These buildings were constructed by Canadian Northern Railway between 1912 and 1953 and originally occupied by Dominion Wheel and Foundries, who manufacture railway components.

In January 2021, an Ontario judge temporarily halted the demolition of all surviving buildings at 153-185 Eastern Avenue ahead of a provincial court hearing that will decide their fate.
