The building has suffered multiple fires that have caused significant damage. Per CBC News, City of Toronto engineering and construction services have been called to determine the next steps for the heritage building.
This house was altered in 1901 by Matthew Sheard for Dr. Charles Sheard (Toronto’s first chief medical officer and a Conservative MP) and his wife Verna Stanton Sheard (a well-known poet).
in 2016 a fire gutted the building, and three more fires in 2019 further damaged the building.
