Toronto
Fort York-Liberty Village

1954
OTHER IDENTIFICATION
Notes:

Built in 1954 to replace the previous Pure Food Building, which had opened in 1922. Higher ceilings and wider aisles better suited the building's purpose of showcasing Canada's food industry. The Food Building was the first of a number of Modernist buildings constructed at Exhibition Place.

An 80-foot stainless steel pylon used to stand on the south side of the building, but it was taken down in 1975 due to rust and decay.
