Completed in 1924, the Soldiers' Tower at the University of Toronto was designed by Sproatt and Rolph to honour students of the University that gave their lives during the First World War. The 628 names are inscribed on a sheltered screen adjacent to the base of the tower, and following the Second World War 557 more names were added to the archway under the tower. The clock and original 23 bells of the carillon were added in 1927, and stained glass windows were added in 1995 and in 2005. The Memorial Room inside the Tower contains artifacts, portraits, and memorial books, and is open to the public several times a week. Remembrance Day services are held at the Soldiers' Tower each year.
