Church-Wellesley
Year Completed:
1871
OTHER IDENTIFICATION
Notes:

336, 338 and 340 Jarvis were originally part of an 8-unit row house constructed between 1854 and 1872 by John and Mary Ann Gardner. 336 and 338 were built as a pair of semi-detached houses in 1854 and 340 was erected in 1861. Historical architectural drawings and photographs indicate that all houses were built in the Georgian Revival style as seen at 336 Jarvis. In 1882 William St. Croix purchased numbers 338 and 340 and subsequently remodelled them in the Second Empire style, creating the impression that these two homes were built as a pair.

note that the City of Toronto's Inventory of Heritage Properties incorrectly lists the construction date of #338 and #340 as 1871
