Designed in 1931, Brownley Apartments is a great example of the Art Deco style, which represented a conscious split from the past and was meant to celebrate new technologies. The brick apartment building features a flat roof and ornamented parapet. Its entrance is decorated with Gibbs Surrounds ornamented with carved floral motifs. The central windows are decorated with a brick pattern while the windows at the edge are a little more elaborate, with stone carvings and a repeating geometric pattern between each level. Grooves made in the façade accentuate the vertical areas between the windows up to the parapet.
