Toronto
High Park-Swansea
First Occupant:
George H. Downard
Year Completed:
1930
OTHER IDENTIFICATION
Notes:

This pleasingly accented home sits atop the hill where Morningside Avenue turns into Ellis Park Road. It was built in what could be called a "Regency Revival" style. Though Regency Revival is not currently an explicitly recognized style, this particular house's resemblance to Upper Canada and Canada West's Regency Cottages couldn't be more explicit. Single-storied, rectangular, and symmetrical with large front windows and small dormer windows upon a hipped roof, the originals stood out among their contemporaries – the 1930s version is no different.
