One of Mimico's earliest surviving post office buildings, 285 Royal York Road (previously called Church Street) is currently home to the Japanese restaurant Nobuya Ramen. In 1929, one of the office's mail trucks was highjacked at gunpoint by three thieves who mistakenly thought it was carrying a shipment of gold bars. When the men fled, a manhunt across the Great Lakes region ensued.
