This 58-storey condominium was designed by Rosario Varacalli and completed in 2019. While a group of heritage buildings at 3-9A Yorkville Avenue was completely demolished to make way for it, a block of heritage storefronts at 836-850 Yonge Street built between 1850 and 1909, including the Frogley's Bakery building, was partially conserved and restored by ERA Architects as part of the development.
The front six metres of the 836-850 Yonge Street buildings were retained and will host commercial tenants; the rear portions of the buildings were demolished and tied into the base of the tower. ERA cleaned the buildings' façades, replicated some of their lost original features, repointed their brickwork, and fitted them with aesthetically appropriate modern windows. They represent a surviving, intact example of a Victorian commercial urban block.
The row of single-storey buildings at 3-9A Yorkville Avenue that was demolished to make way for the 1 Yorkville Avenue tower had been designated under Part IV of the OHA in 2017. They were considered by the City to be rear extensions of the Frogley Building at 850 Yonge and likely dated between 1885 and 1912.
