315 Augusta Avenue was constructed in 1887. The property is located on the east side of Augusta Avenue between College Street and Oxford Street in Kensington Market, Toronto. The property is of the Bay and Gable Style.
315 Augusta Avenue was previously known as 115 1/2 Augusta Avenue and 153 Augusta Avenue. The present-day address (315 Augusta Avenue) has been used since the early 1910s.
315 Augusta Avenue was first home to Sampson J. Bottomley and family (including Ellen Bottomley (wife) and Ethel Bottomley (young daughter)). The Bottomley family lived at 315 Augusta Avenue from 1888 until 1899.
Sampson J. Bottomley and his business partner John Gander were builders that ran Bottomley and Gander - a building, contracting, and carpentry company. Bottomley and Gander was based at 75 Queen Street West, Toronto during the late 1880s.
Later occupants included William F. Workman (circa. 1910); Gilbert Deas (circa. 1913); and Joseph Goodman (circa. mid-1910s to mid-to-late 1940s).
315 Augusta Avenue is included within the boundaries of the Kensington Market Heritage Conservation District, which is presently under study.
