First Occupant:

OTHER IDENTIFICATION
Notes:

175-179 Augusta Avenue were constructed in 1889/1890 and occupied by 1890.

175-179 Augusta Avenue appear to be the southmost 3 houses of what may have originally been a longer row of houses extending northwards along this block of Augusta Avenue. The extant late 20th century building at 181 Augusta Avenue may have replaced an earlier bay-and-gable house that was formerly part of this row. Further research is required to discern how many houses were originally in this row (i.e. 4 houses, etc.).

The first residences of 175-179 Augusta Avenue were:

175 Augusta Avenue: Grant William Forsyth. Forsyth was a clerk at Osgoode Hall.

177 Augusta Avenue: Mrs. L. Smith. Unfortunately no further information about Mrs. Smith is available at present.

179 Augusta Avenue: Henry Hosier and family. Henry Hosier was a furniture manufacturer that worked at 95 Richmond Street West.
