81-83 Oxford is a great example of a semi-detached Toronto Bay and Gable Victorian; it was also the home of Anderson Ruffin Abbott, his wife, three daughters and two sons. Abbott, the first black doctor educated in Upper Canada, he lived here after moving back from Chicago, where he had set up the first school dedicated to educating black nurses.
