In June 1970, Eliam Chinese Baptist Church was born out of the desire to establish a church outside of the once concentrated downtown Chinatown area. The rented church basement was located in the Victoria Park Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East area.
From 1975 - 77, the property at the present location was bought and the main church building erected. The church name became North York (Chinese) Baptist Church in 1978.
In May 2005, 685 Sheppard Ave. E. was purchased to develop a multi-purpose Church use facility for many activities such as worship services, lectures, large meetings, sports, etc.
