Bendale Vocational School was constructed in 1962 and opened in 1963 as the first vocational school in Scarborough. This school was tailored for young teenagers who seek employment in the skill trades after high school.
This school closed its doors in June 2019 after 57 years due to decking enrollment and replaced by the new David and Mary Thomson Collegiate building built in its old sports field. Bendale was demolished in January 2020 and the new subdivision will be built in its place.
