This school was built on top of the old Peter Secor mill of the 1830s. Construction of the composite high school began in 1959 and was completed in 1961. This school has a unique layout with the academic wing located on the south side and the vocational wing on the north side. It has a larger auditorium, three gymnasiums, a swimming pool and the cafeteria.

Cedarbrae was a feature in the 1999 film, Detroit Rock City.
