11 and 13 Irwin are two semiͲdetached houses, that when read together display elements of the Queen Anne style. There is a small jerkin head peak as well at the top of the central gable.
Between 1900 and 1901/1902, Flora MacDonald Denison - one of the leaders of Canada's suffrage movement - lived at 13 Irwin Avenue. While her residency was brief, it was right at the start of her activism, as she gave her first speech - to an audience of 5000 people - in 1902. Her son - Merrill Denison (1893-1975) - who later became a well-known Canadian playwright also lived here. However, the current building was reportedly built in 1905 and likely replaced an earlier structure on the site.
