Notes:
The Free Methodist society established at Ellesmere in 1874 was one of Canada's earliest. Early meetings were held in the house of Robert Loveless, and the congregation relocated to Armadale where the services were held in the home of Silas Phoenix.

This building was erected in 1880 to house the congregation. The land was donated by Francis Underwood, and the building was made with volunteer labour.
