Notes:
The mansard roof at 173 King Street East was a later addition to the building (around 1870). This property's contribution lies in the structure's age (1842); its role in the economic intensification of the District in the mid-to-late 19th century; and its position within the oldest row of buildings currently standing in Toronto. The structure also contributes to the physical character of the District through the attributes that it shares with the other structures in the row and which characterize the commercial warehouse typology within the District, including red brickwork with stone detailing, 3-4 storey heights and glazed storefronts with recessed entrances.
