The four-storey Rectifying House was the southern anchor David Roberts Junior's (architect) mid-1860s expansion to the Gooderham and Worts distillery. This group of buildings, now known as the Cooperage Group, ultimately comprised six buildings (Buildings 27, 28, 31, 32, 33 and 34) that served different purposes over their working lives.
It was in this building that spirits were refined to make whisky. It was at times used as a part of the cooperage (barrel-making shop) that was so important to the whisky-ageing process. Later, it became the Gooderham and Worts offices and a laboratory. This building is now home to the students and teachers of Voice Integrative School, which was founded in 2000.
