Prince of Peace Catholic School was officially opened and received the Bishop's blessing on December 6, 1988. 

Earlier, because of the growth of the new Milliken Community, a new school had begun in eleven portables in St. René Goupil Catholic School's yard. In March 1988, Edward Jacko, the founding principal led the first 360 students, banners flying, on the walk from their host school to the beautiful new building beside the Catholic church from which it took its name.
