AT RISK INFORMATION
At risk status:
This building is at risk

Info:

603 Sherbourne Street, Toronto (the Anson Jones House) has been undergoing a demolition by deterioration (demolition by neglect) for over a decade. While the property is Designated a Heritage Property under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act, it remains in a poor state of upkeep. The owners of the property have expressed an interest in restoring the property and including it in their plans for a 53 storey mixed use (primarily condominium) building. However, attention should be paid to 603 Sherbourne Street and surrounding properties in the interim as to ensure that they are not needlessly lost through peventable causes - such as fire; structural failure; vandalism; etc. - while awaiting restoration.

Please note that 603 Sherbourne Street is contextually linked to 605-607 Sherbourne Street and 4 Howard Street in that all these properties - situated near the northeast corner of Howard Street and Sherbourne Street in Toronto - have been undergoing a demolition by deterioration (demolition by neglect) for over 10 years. 605-607 Sherbourne Street are additionally included in re-development plans for a 53 storey, mixed use (primarily condominium) building which will be located at this corner.
