McVeigh's Irish Pub
The southwest corner of Church Street and Richmond Street East in Toronto has been associated with being the site of a bar, hotel, saloon, and/or tavern since the late 1850s. The present 4-story brick building dates to 1882 and replaced a 2-story wooden frame building which existed on the site between 1857/1858 and 1882. Notably, the Windsor Hotel opened at this site in 1882. The Windsor Hotel became the New Windsor Hotel around 1911. The name changed again to New Windsor House Ltd. around 1959, although the name New Windsor Hotel was still used in the early 1960s. The present establishment - McVeigh's Irish Pub - has been in business since 1962.
