Notes:

1613-1615 Dundas Street West / 269 Brock Avenue is a 3-storey building located at the southeast corner of Dundas Street West and Brock Avenue in the Brockton Village neighbourhood of Toronto. 1613-1615 Dundas Street West / 269 Brock Avenue was constructed in 1891/1892 in an Italianate style and is representative of the late 19th century development of Brockton Village. The ground floor contains 2 storefronts on its Dundas Street West (north) elevation.

Research is ongoing to determine the architect(s) and/or builder(s) of 1613-1615 Dundas Street West / 269 Brock Avenue.

1613-1615 Dundas Street West replaced an earlier building that was home to one of Brockton Village's blacksmiths.

Historical City of Toronto Directories indicate that the storefronts were first home to the Stirrett Brothers. Andrew P. Stirrett (1865-1948) operated a drugstore from the east storefront, whereas George Stirrett (1862-1942) operated a pharmacy from the west (corner) storefront.

The drugstore closed in the early 1900s as Andrew P. Stirrett moved to Nigeria, Niger, and Sudan as a missionary where he became known as Stirrett of the Sudan. This piqued his interest in tropical medicine and he moved to London (to take courses in tropical medicine) and then Toronto (where he graduated as a physician from the University of Toronto's medical school in 1906). Stirrett then spent most of the next 40 years in Africa with only brief trips back to Canada.

George Stirrett's hardware shop later became known as George Stirrett & Son and remained in business until the 1930s.  The Stirrett family were Scottish immigrants who originally settled in Lambton, Ontario during the early 19th century.

During this era, a fruit store was also operated from the east storefront (c. 1910s/1920s).

Later uses of the building include: Walton's Hardware and Howard Crawford (confectionery) (c. 1940); Vita Products — manufacturers of potato chips and nut products (c. 1950); Bark's Paint Store and Kaye's Heating Company (c. 1960); Clear Visision Televisions (c. 1970); Acores Real Estate (c. 1980s) and a discount bargain store (c. 2000s/2010s). The present commercial tenants include The Wanderly — a sustainable vintage clothing store; and La Piscina — a Spanish-inspired bar and café.

The west (side) elevation of 1615 Dundas Street West / 269 Brock Avenue contains a large mural commemorating Violeta Parra — a Chilean composer and ethnomusicologist. This mural was painted by Tikay & Aner. More information is available on the Dundas Street Open Air Museum website:  https://dundaswest.museum/1615-dundas-st-w/
