29 Sussex Avenue was constructed in 1879 and is one of the "Three Sisters" heritage properties at 29, 31, and 33 Sussex Avenue. 29 Sussex Avenue had long-term owners (including author M. L. Knight) until a series of sales in the mid-2010s. The current owner of the property is the Governing Council of the University of Toronto. During the series of sales in the mid-2010s, the property was vacated and partially renovated (gutted). It remains vacant and has since become increasingly derelict. There are concerns over the future of this property.
